A Systematic Course in the Ancient Tantric Techniques of Yoga and Kriya by Swami Satyananda Saraswati - a really fabulous introduction to the practice that also provides lesson plans and tutorials for anyone looking to start a well rounded daily practice. And, of course, the beloved and widely read text by BKS Iyengar , "Light On Yoga" is a perfect primer for anyone interested in the philosophy and practice of Yoga.

Nora Brank

Nora started practicing yoga and meditation when her dad introduced her to the sun salutations at the tender age of five. These days, Nora starts every day with a sun salute and thanks her yoga practice for her health and well being. She believes that a regular yoga practice will unlock the natural flexibility, resilience, and grace that lies within every single person.
Nora has a MA in philosophy from a program that emphasized both Eastern and Western texts. Her love and knowledge of the mystical traditions included in the Vedic texts guides and deepens her yoga practice. In her Yoga & Meditation classes at Namaste Highland Park, she brings this knowledge to the mat, where the physical and the spiritual unite.

Nora Brank instructs the following classes:

HATHA :: Intermediate
In this steady-paced yoga class traditional asanas are held in accurate alignment with emphasis on building core strength, stamina, flexibility and balance as well as improving concentration and breath control.
**Focused on refinement of the basics, the practice of Sun Salutations and introduction to revolved standing poses, hand balances, inversions and backbends. Using props when necessary, we move at a faster pace than in an All Levels class.

YOGA :: Yoga & Meditation (c)
This gentle flow class is focused on the experience of being in your body and with your breath. Accessible to all levels, including beginners, this class is a combination of gentle & dynamic flow coupled with longer holds to help find alignment in our bodies, within ourselves, connect with clarity, humility, and love.
We begin end class with Mindfulness Meditation – a subtle but very special practice that is often overlooked.

VINYASA :: All Levels
Integrating movement and breath, this class is aimed at the seasoned beginners and regular practitioners.
- Introducing twists, some backbends, approachable inversions, be prepared to explore both beginning and intermediate poses. Modifications are given allowing the students to choose a more beginning or more advanced practice according to their needs.

HATHA :: All Levels
A steady practice with focus on proper alignment and holding of poses to engage, building strength, stamina, flexibility and balance as well as improving concentration and breath control.
**Introducing twists, some backbends, approachable inversions and the usage props (blocks, straps), this class is suitable for, and potentially challenging for ALL LEVELS as it can be taken as easily or deeply as one's body demands on a given day.
